Saint Simon, the Myrrh-scented, was the founder of the architectural-admiring monastery of Mount Athos, Simonopetra, built on top of a single huge rock, hanging from a cliff 330 metres over the sea. He miraculously proceeded to the reconstruction of the monastery. The church devoted herself in the name of the Birth of the Jesus, and the monastery named New Bethlehem. Saint Simon celebrates on December 28th.
Saint Mary Magdalene came from Magdala, a city in Israel. When seven demons possessed her, Christ freed her from them and then she became His student and follower. In the Resurrection of the Lord, she first came to His grave and the angels announced her for His Resurrection. In the sacristy of the Holy Monastery of Simonopetra, the left hand of Saint Mary Magdalene is kept for 2,000 years. Saint Mary Magdalene is honored as the co-founder of Simonopetra monastery. Saint Mary Magdalene celebrates on July 22nd.
