Saint Nicephorus was born in a mountainous village in Chania, Crete, but at the age of 13 Hansen's disease, known as leprosy, came to his way. For some years the saint lived in Egypt, where he worked as a barber, but the scars of the disease forced him to move to the Leprosy-hospital in thw island of Chios. Those years, Nicephorus became a saint and lived along with Saint Anthimus. The saint died on January 4th, 1964 A.D. Saint Nicephorus celebrates on January 4th.
