Monastic handmade soap with infusions of sword grass (St. John’s wort), sword grass oil and beeswax, made by the monks in the fraternity of the Holy Monastery of the Assumption of Virgin Mary.
Sword grass is a shrubby plant with characteristic yellow flowers that bloom during the summer months. The scientific name of the plant is Hypericum perforatum, but it is better known to us through the name “St. John’s wort.” In addition, we often find it with the name herb of St. John the Baptist. The healing properties of the plant have been known for about 2,500 years.
Beneficial properties: Hypericin and hyperforin are the substances that give St. John’s wort oil its deep red color and act as natural antibiotics, antiseptics, bactericides and anti-inflammatory. The most active substance of sword grass is hypericin, a substance that is found throughout the plant, but mainly (in higher concentrations) in its flowers. Soap with sword grass extract has anti-aging and soothing properties. Produces rich foam and cleanses the skin, offering deep hydration. In addition, St. John’s wort soap has the property of reducing inflammation, offering elasticity to the skin and helping to heal wounds and burns. Suitable for all skin types, face and body.
