In the Holy Bible, the angels are sent by God in visible form, when a great divine will is going to be manifested or executed. Leaders of the angelic powers are the archangels Michael and Gabriel. We meet Archangel Michael in the Old Testament, while Gabriel in the New Testament.
The name of Archangel Gabriel means "God is my strength". He is the one, who announced the message of the birth of Christ to Virgin Mary, while in the later years it is reported that he appeared to a monk on Mount Athos and carved "Axion Esti" on a marble slab in front of the icon of the Virgin Mary. Archangel Gabriel celebrates on November 8th.
