Handmade cross with our Lord Jesus Christ, made of three types of wood: cedar, cypress and pine.
Dimensions: 14 x 25
According to tradition, the story of the Holy Cross on which our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified has its roots in the Hospitality of Abraham. The three angels, who had visited Abraham, left there three pieces of wood that gave off a distinct fragrance. Abraham's son, Lot, took these pieces of wood and planted them outside the walls of Jerusalem. Lot patiently watered these woods until they became a tall tree with three tops of cedar, pine and cypress. Later, Solomon tried to use the trunk from this tree to build the Temple. In vain, however, as the wood did not fit anywhere and was therefore called "dishonourable" or "cursed". Later, when the Jews were looking for wood for the Cross of our Lord, they found the discarded wood from Lot's tree and used it to make the Cross. This hypothesis is also confirmed by the Bible, where the compound of the Holy Cross is characterized as a "composite" wood of three different types. In the wider area where the Crucifixion took place, all three types of trees are found: the cedar of Lebanon, the cypress and the trachea pine.
