Hand painted icon of Saint Proclus, made in Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
Saint Proclus and Hilarion the Martyrs lived during the reign of Emperor Trajan (98 - 117 AD). Saint Proclus was the first to be arrested and after proclaiming his christian faith, he was brought in front of the governor Maximus, who subjected him to terrible tortures. On the way to his place of martyrdom, he encountered his nephew Hilarion, who greeted him. This incident led to Hilarion's arrest. Hilarion confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and was subjected to dreadful tortures as well. Ultimately, Proclus, mortally wounded by arrows, surrendered his soul to the Lord, receiving the crown of martyrdom. Following this, Saint Hilarion was martyred by beheading. The two Holy Martyrs, Proclus and Hilarion, are honored by our Church on July 12.
