Oak Honey of Mount Athos is collected in the protected forests of Mount Athos (NATURA 2000). This honey is one of the honeydew honeys, which means that it is produced from the secretions of the insects that invade the oak trees. It is important to note that because of the specific conditions in the forests of oak trees and the microclimate of Mount Athos, the Oak Honey production is not possible every year.
Characteristics:
- Usually has a dark color, as well as an aromatic, distinctive and full taste, but not really sweet.
- It is rich in antioxidant properties and contains a high amount of potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and sodium.
- Its enzymes enhance the metabolism and the function of vital organs.
