Hand painted icon of Saint Cecilia, made in Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
Saint Cecilia, also known as Saint Kikilia, came from a noble family of idolaters and lived in Rome in the early 3rd century. As she grew up and heard the teachings of Jesus Christ, she believed in Him and sought to be baptized as a Christian. Later, her parents forced her to marry an idolater, named Valerian. Valerian was influenced by Saint Cecilia and was initiated into Christianity, along with his brother Tiburtius. During the persecutions under Diocletian, the three faithful continued their philanthropic work steadfastly. Soon, their arrest followed, leading to countless tortures until their martyrdom through decapitation. Saint Cecilia is considered the patron saint of music, poetry, and the arts. The memory of Saint Cecilia and Saint Valerian is celebrated by both the Western and Eastern Churches on November 22nd.
