Handmade wooden iconography of the Saint John III Doukas Vatatzes, made on Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
John III Doukas Vatatzes, born in 1193 in Didymoteicho, came from a prominent Byzantine family. He was the second Emperor of Nicaea, reigning for 32 years from 1222 to 1254, succeeding Theodore I Laskaris. He was renowned for his piety, charity, and exceptional administrative and military skills. He reorganized the state, ensuring social and economic prosperity. Furthermore, he reclaimed significant territories from the Latins, laying the groundwork for the recapture of Constantinople by his successor, Michael VIII Palaiologos, in 1261. His sanctity was confirmed by his incorruptible relics, and the Church commemorates him on November 4.
