Handmade wooden iconography of the Myrrh-bearing Women at the Tomb of Jesus Christ, made on Mount Athos, on natural wood. The icon is delivered in a wooden box.
The Myrrh-Bearing Women were devout followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, accompanying Him during His public action and remaining by His side through His Passion and Burial. Among them are Mary Magdalene, Joanna the wife of Chuza, Salome, Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Susanna. These women faithfully tended to the Lord’s body, anointing it with myrrh, and as a reward for their devotion, they were the first to receive the great news of His Resurrection. The Evangelists Luke and Matthew do not provide a complete list of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, referring to them collectively as those who «ministered to Him» (Luke 8:3; Matthew 27:55). Nevertheless, they are honored by the Church on the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, celebrated on May 8. This commemoration highlights their essential role in spreading the message of the Lord's Resurrection and their courageous faith.
