Handmade, pectoral, wood carved cross in a byzantine shape. At the center of the cross, Virgin Mary and the Holy Infrant, Jesus Christ, are engraved. On the right, we can see saint Ephraim of Nea Makri and on the left, saint Nektarios. The cross is sculptured on boxwood at the Holy Skete of Saint Demetrios in Mount Athos.

Saint Nektarios or Nektarios of Pentapolis or of Aegina was born in Thraki in 1846. In Aegina island he built a monastery while he contributed to miracles to the residents of the island as a brother and their supporter. He died in 1920 AD and buried in the Holy Trinity in Aegina. Saint Nektarios celebrates on 9 November.
Saint Ephraim, at the age of 14, in order to avoid Islamization, joined the thriving holy monastery of Stavropigiani of The Dormition of the most holy Theotokos, in Attica. A few years later, Turks intruded violently into the Monastery and tortured Ephraim. Ephraim of Nea Makri testified on May 5, 1426, and this is when his memory is celebrated.
